Our Founders have placed us under “the Standard of the Cross” (Fr. Mermier) “to make the Good God known and loved.” (Claudine Echernier)
The source spiritualities of the Sisters of the Cross are Ignatian and Salesian.
We are formed by the rigorous and dynamic pedagogy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, especially ‘The Spiritual Exercises’ offered to all Christians by the Church to advance in the following of Christ. At the same time we are deeply marked by the spirit of St. Francis de Sales, who nourished Himself on Ignatian Spirituality. According to St. Francis de Sales, it is in contemplating Christ that we are led “to live in deep humility, obedience, simplicity, gentleness and resignation whereby we can nurture a loving, simple and constant attention to things divine.” It is in embracing His Cross that we can overcome egoism and build a more fraternal life fully impregnated with the love of God. Perfect understanding of human being and deep knowledge of God: these sum up the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales.
